Girls Rule!

In the Girls Rule Program, students explore the Arts while learning about themselves. They focus on poetry, photography, theater and video. Topics include: feminism, body image, domestic violence, sexual assault, self-esteem, women and the media, women artists and musicians. In addition to topic workshops, we also have professional workshops to expose the girls to various career options. All topics are explored through discussion and self-expression.

Girls, from the ages of 12-18, are exposed to various creative pieces throughout literature, music and photography. Students are encouraged to look beyond their present circumstances and social expectations. They are encouraged to think critically about themselves and their surroundings. At the end of each session, students create their own creative piece (songs, poetry, dance or theatrical or video piece). These creative pieces are presented in a CD and/or performance and/or video format.
